Pastor Notes
Hello everyone! I am e-mailing this article, all the way from sunny Pulaski, Tn, just a couple of days after Christmas. Sherry and I hope you and your families were blessed with a special time of worship and wonder during the celebration. We sure enjoyed our first Christmas season with you all. In fact, we have had a wonderful first year with you. We need to talk about all the candy, cake, and good food though. Your love is making me fat! Besides that, we have no complaints.

I don't usually formalize resolutions but I do have some very concrete ideas of how I need to improve in my ministry and how I need to fall deeper in love with Christ (1 Timothy 4). How about you? Remember, if you aim at nothing, you will be sure to hit it. Let’s Philippians 1:9-11 this coming year!

I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return. May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation--the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ--for this will bring much glory and praise to God. NLT

Not only do I have ideas and plans for my own growth this coming year, I am excited about what we will attempt for the Lord together as a church family. I don’t have my calender with me during this time off, but off the top of my head let me tell you some of the things I am looking forward to most.

New Members Classes - We have MANY new members and I can’t wait to begin meeting with them early next month.

Quiz Night - Our first annual game night to see what we learned this past year.

Family Day - A Sunday morning worship service dedicated to families and geared toward children. It’s going to be fun!

Revival - I’ve been working on this lately and I’m getting excited about a great time of renewal and outreach (including the Bolivar Blitz).

Mission Trip 2012 - Who is going with me? The sign up deadline is coming fast.

Marriage Conference at FBC - (I am really praying we can do this because Sherry could always love me more).

Family Trip/Retreat - The activities committee is working on this and I pray it comes together.

More and better and deeper times in worship and the Word. And these are just off the top of my head!

Bless you all!
brother john

Flowers for the Sanctuary

The beautiful flowers in the sanctuary are given in memory of David Ginn by Tim & Karen Moss and family.

If you would like to provide flowers for the Sanctuary, there is a sign-up in the hallway on the large bulletin board. This is a great way to honor your loved ones for a special occasion or in their memory. Thanks! The Flower Committee.

In Sympathy

The church staff and the church family of FBC express heartfelt sympathies, love, and prayers to: The family of Janice Berryman in the home going of her mother, Mary Howell and The family of Loretta Adkins in the home going of her niece.
