Guiding Our Youth Towards the Lord
Dear FBC Family,
Well another new year is upon us. Paige and I hope you had a great Christmas and a happy New Year!! We tend to be in the business of making our resolutions at this point. I have been thinking about what kind of things I want to see changed in my life over the course of 2012. I would love to read more. I am planning on reading through the Bible in a year. (If you would like to join me, I’ll get you a reading plan.) I need to join a gym. I would like to spend more time with my bride. I also have more resolutions to accomplish. If you are like me, then you will likely be gung ho for the first few weeks. Then something happens. Difficulties come up. Tests happen. Life forgets to plan around our schedules. It’s like our faith sometimes. We start off with enthusiasm and determination. Then we stumble. We must remember that we serve a God that rises above the entrapments that Satan throws at us. Not only does he rise above, He vanquishes the enemy. I know that this may seem like ramblings, but let me tie it together. Whether the plans are for a
day, or a year, or a lifetime; God is there. We can make our silly little declarations about going and doing, but without God’s steadfastness it is futile. Let’s make 2012 what it’s supposed to be about…. GOD.
The youth will be heading out to do something one day over MLK weekend. Be looking for the calendar that will be sent out. Don’t forget that the second payment for Camp is January 15th.
WHEW Basketball is coming up! Evaluations on the 5th from 5:00PM - 7:00PM, and on the 7th from 9:00AM - 11:00AM. Please consider signing up. We need you. I cannot express it enough that without the volunteers, the league can’t be done.
I hope all of you are looking forward to 2012. We saw some great things in 2011, as well as hard times. But we saw God move!!!!
